Empower Simcoe supports 147 adults in their own or shared living environment. This option is available in Barrie and Orillia. The hours of support fluctuates as support needs change, but at a minimum, 4 hours of support is provided per week. There are no overnight supports. Typically staff provide assistance in the areas of budgeting, shopping, meal preparation and community participation. Families are encouraged to participate in all aspects of their family member’s life as appropriate.
Criteria for service:
- Over 18
- Has an intellectual disability
- Knowledge of or the ability to learn basic daily living skills
- Ability to be safe in their living environment without staff present

Supported Independent Living Supports are governed by the Services and Supports to Promote the Social Inclusion of Persons with Developmental Disabilities and are funded and licensed by the Ministry of Community and Social Services.
