Arriving thirty minutes ahead of his shift, he feels proud to belong to the team at this busy full-service butcher shop on County Road 56 in Utopia.
“It’s one of the best,” Nick enthusiastically shares. “It’s because of the people. My coworkers, my boss, and the customers too!”
Supported by Empower Simcoe’s Employment Support Services Program, Nick is a versatile team member at this long-standing family-owned and operated business that is renowned for top quality beef, pork, poultry, and fish products, as well as catering, DIY pig roasts, and wild game processing for over 50 years. During this particular shift, Nick is busy assembling an order for Thanksgiving gift boxes that have just come in for a local employer—600 boxes in total. Things are bustling at Country Meat Cuts.
"I like this job because I enjoy being busy," states Nick. "It gives me great satisfaction."

Watching Nick’s growth as a valued team member at Country Meat Cuts has come with an added bonus. “Nick’s family has noticed a remarkable change in him since he joined us,” Brandy shares with pride. “His mental well-being has flourished, and he’s such a happy person now. It’s incredibly rewarding for us.”
