Community Participation Support Worker

We are recruiting for 2 Community Participation Support Workers in Orillia. Utilizing a personal outcome based approach, support people in making informed choices that lead to successful inclusion and participation in community based recreational/leisure activities; work/volunteer placements. These positions work up to 63 hours biweekly, with a rate of pay of $21.89 per hour.  
 MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB INCLUDE:

Degree or Diploma in developmental services or a closely related field;
One year recent work experience working in a community setting supporting the integration of people supported through outcome based approach
Valid class G driver's license and reliable transportation is required;
demonstrated knowledge of community resources; 
excellent written and verbal communication skills, including demonstrated 

      experience in Microsoft office applications and database administration; 

good interpersonal skills;
current valid certificates in First Aid, C.P.R. and N.V.C.I.

OVERVIEW OF DUTIES: (not inclusive of all duties):

facilitate and support participation in meaningful community based activities which support individuals to develop skills utilizing community infrastructure such as transportation services to promote and develop leisure, recreational, employment and volunteer opportunities within the community;
participating in goal planning with people and attending individual planning meetings as requested and supporting people to attain their desired goals;
assisting people to maintain positive relationships and to facilitate independence in volunteer placements and competitive employment; providing job coaching as required;
facilitating positive involvement and interaction in the community, acting in a professional manner at all times and as a role model for people supported; 
supporting people to successfully transition from school;
providing personal hygiene supports as necessary; 

SPECIAL FACTORS

the needs of this program require flexibility as support needs are based on people's individual needs and community partner requirements as identified by the community partners;
will be required to work flexible hours which will include working evenings, weekends and public holidays;
regularly scheduled sixty-three (63) hours or less, averaged over a two (2) week period. Hours worked beyond the originally scheduled hours to address sudden unanticipated needs of individuals supported and to fill in for other employees who are absent shall not be counted in determining whether a person is a part-time employee or a full time employee;
a two (2) week schedule will be posted no later than fourteen (14) calendar days in advance of taking effect; 
providing support to individuals within the Accommodations program (group living and Supported Independent Living) and CSS 4 King Street when participants needs have changed during employee's scheduled hours, where they do not require support in this program and as directed by the Supervisor/Manager.
employer shall endeavour to arrange schedules so as to provide that no CPSW employee is scheduled to work more than every other weekend. If that is not operationally possible or during times of increased needs of individuals and community partners, the Employer will arrange schedules to provide that no employee is scheduled to work more than two (2) consecutive weekends;

Housing Access Worker

We are recruiting for 2 part-time contract Housing Access Workers to assist individuals and families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness to obtain affordable accommodation and relevant support services; to identify individuals with chronic housing needs and requiring longer term assistance; to operate the housing registry and recruit and support landlords for the registry; providing landlord/tenant mediation and to work with the Housing Tribunal. These positions support the regional housing program and work up to 30 hours per week until March 31, 2020. These positions have an hourly rate of pay of $25.73.
Minimum requirements of this position include:

preference will be given to applicants with a degree/diploma in the field of social services and who have recent relevant experience working with the target population; 
up to one year's full-time experience in promoting housing for marginalized persons, experience within the Addictions, Mental Health or a closely related field is an asset
demonstrated knowledge of human/legal rights and relevant legislation; 
knowledge of screening and assessment tools related to the field;
demonstrated excellent communication and assessment skills; networking skills; 
knowledge of community resources;
the ability to work independently and as part of a team are required; 
a valid driver's license and own reliable transportation to be used in the course of employment is required; 
must be prepared to do some evening and weekend work;

Duties and responsibilities:  (including, but not limited to) 

maintaining a caseload of individuals and families who require assistance in obtaining and maintaining adequate housing;
advocating to landlords on behalf of clients requiring housing;
developing and maintaining a housing registry of persons willing to rent rooms, apartments, houses to persons with exceptional housing needs;
providing support to both landlords and tenants, in order to maintain housing;
facilitating information sharing workshops and sessions;
providing training in budgeting, household management, social skills, and other skills necessary to maintain adequate housing;
being familiar with Landlord-Tenant Act and other related regulations and assisting clients accordingly;
assessing housing needs and assisting clients in securing housing to meet those needs;

We are presently accepting resumes for Casual Relief Support Workers to work in our Accommodation programs (group homes).  Casual Relief staff are responsible for picking up open shifts as there is no set schedule. These positions provide supportive services to meet the direct care needs of individuals in the Accommodation's program in Barrie and Orillia utilizing the Personal Outcomes philosophy.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB INCLUDE:

Must commit to working shifts as outlined below:
