Regional Housing Supervisor

We are recruiting for a permanent full-time Regional Housing Supervisor to provide leadership and supervision to a team of staff working in the Regional Housing Support Services program providing services throughout Simcoe County.  As the Regional Housing Supervisor, you will liaise with community based partners and the community at large to promote principles of inclusion, person-centred services and Housing First Principles. This position works 37.5 hours per week with an hourly rate of pay of $30.88.
Minimum requirements of this position include:

a Degree or Diploma in the social services field; other degrees or diplomas may be considered if a combination of education and experience provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities;
a minimum of two years recent full-time experience in a social services or related environment, including working with the housing or homelessness sector;
supervisory experience is required;
knowledge of CQL (The Council on Quality and Leadership) values and approach is an asset;
demonstrated knowledge of Housing First Principles, guidelines and related housing concepts;
knowledge and proven skills in providing case management;
knowledge of the Quality Assurance Measures Act, Ministry of Labour regulations, and Occupational Health and Safety;
valid G class driver's license and reliable transportation to be used for employment purposes;
must be available to work flexible hours;

Duties and responsibilities:  (including, but not limited to) 

monitoring case management using a person-centred approach that is consistent with Housing First Principles and the Council on Quality and Leadership Personal Outcome Measures;
coaching, mentoring and effecting changes in attitudes and performance of front-line staff as necessary;
staying current and knowledgeable on trends related to issues related to homelessness and poverty;
supporting the work of established housing and homelessness partnerships across Simcoe County;
scheduling and maintaining all staff hours of work and ensuring that Supervision and Team Meetings occur on a regular basis;
participating in budgeting and monitoring expenditures, thereby ensuring effective use of all resources assigned to their areas of responsibility;
providing coverage for other Supervisors and the Supports and Services Manager, as appropriate, in their absence;
participate in ongoing education and training;

Casual Relief Support Worker

We are presently accepting resumes for Casual Relief Support Workers to work in our Accommodation programs (group homes).  Casual Relief staff are responsible for picking up open shifts as there is no set schedule. These positions provide supportive services to meet the direct care needs of individuals in the Accommodation's program in Barrie and Orillia utilizing the Personal Outcomes philosophy.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB INCLUDE:

completed certificate, diploma or degree from accredited college or university in the human services field which includes but is not limited to, DSW, PSW, SSW, BASW etc OR a completed 2 year diploma or 3 year degree at an accredited college or university in any field with 2 years full-time work experience directly supporting people; 
proven ability to work as part of a team and/or independently;
excellent communication skills, including listening and interpersonal skills;
good computer skills in Microsoft Office and database experience is required;
a current clear criminal record check with a vulnerable sector screening check, pre-employment medical; 
a valid class G driver's license and reliable transportation are considered an asset.

Overview of Duties (not a complete list):

participate in meal planning and preparation; grocery shopping, house cleaning; laundry and to support individuals to participate in these activities when appropriate;
provide personal care for individuals in keeping with their abilities;
provide opportunities for individuals to participate in community activities and make connections within their community according to their interests;  

Must commit to working shifts as outlined below:

a minimum of 40 hours per month which includes the following shift requirements; 
a minimum of two (2) weekend shifts 
a minimum of two (2) overnight shifts 
a specified number of statutory holidays, including the Christmas period

Youth Program Leader

We are presently recruiting for a full-time - Youth Program Leader to work in our Youth program. In this position you will develop opportunities for Youth to participate more fully in their school and community; promote inclusion and to assist youth and their families to link with social and recreational opportunities; to develop and run weekly social events throughout the year and the summer Youth in Action program. This position has a pay rate of $25.73 per hour and works up to 30 hours per week (September-June) and 37.5 hours per week (June-September). 
Minimum Requirements:

diploma or degree in social services or therapeutic recreation;
at least one year's recent full time experience providing support for youth with a developmental disability;
familiarity with the issues facing transitional aged youth in school and community, particularly in the Barrie and Orillia areas;
ability to work closely with personnel in the education system, local recreational services and Empower Simcoe Transitional Aged Youth program;
familiarity with Personal Outcomes Measure for Children and Youth;
previous experience developing inclusive environments for youth who have developmental disability and working with groups will be considered an asset;
valid class G driver's license and own reliable transportation to be used in the course of employment;
ability to work flexible hours as required.

Duties and Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

working with youth and their families to develop plans to meet the youth individual social/recreational and vocational goals;
promoting inclusion 

through public awareness activities
supporting individual schools to develop inclusion strategies, as well as local Youth Involvement or Circles of Friends groups,
recruiting peer support to youth events;


developing plans for summer Youth In Action program;
recruiting participants for Youth Involvement and Youth In Action;
working with groups of youth to identify group goals and ways of meeting those goals;
identifying strategies to aid in the transition from high school to adulthood.
