Empower Simcoe Partners with United Way Simcoe Muskoka to Launch Home Relief Bank

Now accepting applications

Empower Simcoe’s Regional Housing Support Services is proud to be a community partner in the launch of the Home Relief Bank—a new initiative led by United Way Simcoe Muskoka to help prevent homelessness across our region.

With rising housing and rental costs, many individuals and families in Simcoe County and the Town of The Blue Mountains are struggling to make ends meet. A short-term crisis—such as a job loss, health issue, or relationship breakdown—can quickly lead to rent or mortgage arrears and put a household at risk of eviction or foreclosure.

The Home Relief Bank is a direct and compassionate response to this growing housing crisis. The program offers interest-free loans to help cover rent or mortgage payments, delivering immediate financial relief for those experiencing a temporary setback. Just as importantly, the Home Relief Bank provides individualized support services to help people regain stability and access long-term resources for housing security.

“This is more than a financial safety net,” says Sharon McCormick, United Way’s Chief Administrative Officer. “It’s about helping people navigate challenging times while building a sustainable system of community care.”

The Home Relief Bank is facilitated through a network of community agencies, including Empower Simcoe, Beaver Valley Outreach, Redwood Park Communities, and United Way Simcoe Muskoka.
