Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Council
Empower Simcoe is excited to announce the formation of its Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Advisory Council (EDIAC). This dynamic council is a collaborative effort, bringing together employees, community stakeholders, and the individuals and families we support. EDIAC’s mission is to champion equity, foster diversity, and promote an inclusive culture within Empower Simcoe and the broader community. Through its strategic initiatives, EDIAC aims to drive meaningful change, celebrate diverse backgrounds, and ensure that every voice is heard and valued.

Strategic
Importance and Goals
The EDIAC was established as a key initiative under Empower Simcoe’s Strategic Plan: Building the Capacity to Serve. The council's primary role is to provide insightful advice, comments, and recommendations on matters affecting diversity within the organization.

It aims to perform:
Advocacy for Diversity

Provide guidance and recommendations on equity, diversity, and inclusion issues to ensure fair and inclusive practices throughout the organization.

EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH

Create and promote opportunities to educate both the Empower Simcoe community and the broader public about diverse cultures and traditions.

CULTURAL CELEBRATIONS

Facilitate events and activities that celebrate the richness of diverse backgrounds, fostering a sense of belonging and mutual respect.

POLICY DEVELOPMENT

Assist in the creation and implementation of policies that promote inclusivity and equitable practices within the organization.

Seeking New Members

Empower Simcoe’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Advisory Council (EDIAC) is seeking new members to join the council. Expression of interest is welcomed from employee, people supported or community stakeholders. The council meets four times a year on the second Tuesday of the month, from 4 – 5 pm in the months of March, May, September, and November.
